Childhood of Famous Americans

The Childhood of Famous Americans series (COFA) was orginally published in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s by Bobbs-Merrill. Publishers have merged and consolidated since then, but these have managed to stay in print. Each includes a text that tells a good story and a number of action-oriented pencil sketchs. There have been additional titles added in later years. The text of each focuses on significant figures who have made a difference in American history - men, women, inventors, athletes, politicians, and generals. Text is written on a 4th/5th grade reading level
