When we first started studying ancient Greece with our children, I read them Alfred Church’s adaptation of Homer,
“The Iliad for Boys and Girls”
(which tells the story of the siege of Troy, ending after its fall), and its companion volume
“The Odyssey for Boys and Girls”
(which tells the story of Odysseus and his long and difficult journey home after the war’s end). These are still my favorite children’s versions of these stories. Church captures the high heroic tone, and yet gives us a very readable, child friendly version. These books make great read-alouds, but are can also be read independently by mid- to upper elementary readers. These classic books have been out of print for quite some time. We're thrilled to be able to bring them back into print.
This is
The Iliad
in story form., It is intended for children roughly ages 9-12, or 3rd through 6th grade.
